Escapade - 2nd round

Hello my friends if you think that the
traffic is bad in your city, then think again.
Within the few minutes of our arrival, I wanted
to feel the experience of  the smells and sounds
of my previous return to my homeland.
Nothing had really changed, the language
was new to my hears (now everyone speaks
the real italian and not the different dialects),
the sounds of banging, babies crying their heads off,
old people with fear in their eyes, youngsters flabbergasted
by throngs of people going, coming, sitting,
just standing & trying to make some sense of
the madness.  I was told from my young age
to watch my purse and luggage, but I had also
my camera around the neck, sunglasses were a
little to dark and I couldn't see a darn thing,
since I forgot to put on my contact lenses.
Boy this escapade was really going to be like
a challenge to my good senses.
Then what a great music to me heart on the
intercom came this strange voice:
"La Famiglia M.... si presenta al sportello
della sua compagnia aerea..." Now what,
did someone die back home, did we forget
something in the plane, did we loose our wallet
filled with nothing more than green papers in
shape of money!!!
No such thing, it was our taxi driver who was
in a rush to bring us to the hotel so he could
go and have is afternoon nap in one of the thousands
alleys of the city.
He was fairly young, well educated, offering us to
either open our windows for fresh air or he could
put the A/C.  We all had a great smile and we all
answered in unison A/C.  OK OK no comments,
the A/C is very weak but eiiiiii better than having
to open our windows and die of fumes, heat or
curses from other taxi because we did not take them.

That's it for today, until next chapter which will be
very soon.

Escapade start point

Last minute decision,
OK first it's the appointment for an hairdo,
a mad rush inside a closet to fill up a
carry on luggage, so plan carefully,
otherwise you risk to put in high heals instead
of running shoes.
Don't forget we were 4 women on this escapade.
So at least 2 clothing changes a day,
should we bring umbrella in case of rain,
no bathing suit that was for sure (no time) to
go to the beach.
Tickets, money, passports, make sure for
the local taxi not to be stuck in traffic to airport
as if WE had a say in that...
Sure enough we forgot photo camera & cell phones.
So less than halfway to airport, taxi made a U-turn
ran like crazy, got our gears and just made it
with 30 minutes to spare.
BUT, yes there is a BUT,
we had standby tickets!
will there be enough places for the 4 of us,
no one cared to sit all together as long as we were
all on the same plane.
No luck ... flight was full,
ran to another airline and fantastic luck
there were 4 places but not for Rome, but instead
to Frankfurt with a possible connection to Rome.
OK we had 2 hours to wait, so just enough time
to find a seat and organize to advice hotel, shuttle
for our late arrival.
Embarked and the youngsters fell asleep all the way
to Frankfurt.  But granny kept playing games and
could not close my eyes, but managed to relax a little.

OK that's it for this first chapter.
TO BE CONTINUED......

An escapade

You will say
"An escapade..."
sure why not!
Like the youngsters,
I have a light foot,
loving to fly around the world
when possible and say
"Hello and goodbye".
Yes you might have guessed it,
my escapade of four and half days
including the flying time was to
the beautiful Rome, Italy.
Well at least the part that was
planned in my escape.
Visited the gorgeous villa Borghese,
all the other tourists piazzas, churches
& stairs, cathedrals and St-Peter,
the Colosseum to the castle San Angelo
and all their surroundings strade and
stradelle.  I was assaulted by authentics
flavours and perfumes from big cafes,
small trattorias or just the around the corner
eat and go.

>End of first Chapter<
