Golden silence

I just wish I had a friend to keep me company,

one who would keep silence until I speak.
One that would walk at my pace and offer me
a hand, should I find a pebble sticking to my shoe,
or a soft and gentle hand who offers me a handkerchief
to wipe that salty taste that would eventually reach
my lips chapped by the cold or the heat...
That's what I would need to keep on living one
day at the time.
